I'm wanting to merge to styles together. I'm considering dark fantasy with influence from early moden era.
the concept of the world is. what if technology developed slightly faster than cultures. so we have the culture of medeveil times but we then have knights still using swords but also possibly carrying a musket or flintlock.
whilst im not going for all the tech of the early moden era i will be including parts like this to build a mixed universe. i would also imagen that they would have accses to simple mechanisms such as cogs and possibly some form of power mabey magical or physical.
the base theme of my world will take inspiration from other dark medieval and dark fantasy worlds and styles. it will take inspiration from Germanic and Saxon worlds.
this will be the mixed theme giving the world a little more character. the idea is to have a dark fantasy world with early modern technology's.
with steam punk I'm wanting to include some elements but not all. the style often is very strong and stylized where as I'm only wanting to include the mechanical parts. (for an example a mecanical musket)
swords were deeply integrated as apart of there culture. they were given a personality and a identity. some swords were even believed to have possessed magical or supernatural ability's.
they were seen as a status symbol, gifted during knight hoods they were a symbol of power and
the legal system was less fair than we do it today. two parties in dispute would engage in single combat to determine the truth of the matter. The winner was considered to have been favored by divine judgment. the battle would be done in public view and under the management of a magistrates.
they would fight using a code of conduct, keeping honor whilst battling was important. you were to fight with out deception.
they had to fight with bravery and not surrender or cower at the fight.
Knights relied on specially bred, trained horses called destriers for battle. These were powerful, muscular animals—not necessarily huge, but strong, agile, and disciplined.
horses became extremely close to there owners
muskets were long barrelled smooth bore guns it was developed and started seeing use by 1521. in response to this thicker armour started seeing more use.
it was one of the first versions of firearms that we see today.
musketeers were some of the first infantry. named after there signiture gun the musket they were imporant to the history of early modern warfare
the architecture during the early modern period was influenced by the local recourses due to lack of supply chains and technological limits. they often would build with design coming first. they would use chiseled window dressings and tall structures with new building techniques allowing them to build taller and more complex than ever.
Flint Lock sketches
sword and shield sketches
these sketches allow me to look in to the design of the objects by forcing my self to get them down and draw them
this also allows me to asses the use of hand drawn media for this project
musketeer apparel
knight helmets
these are giving some ideas for the clothing and look of armour
for these i drew them digitaly using a tablet and pen
Pixel art
Toon Shaded
using an application called block bench i can build 3d assets using voxels and lowpoly designs that resemble pixel art but 3d. this style is most known by the game Minecraft.

For this design, I used the grated design that a lot of helmets use to help the user breathe. For my design, I decided to give the top a horned look and did the same to the visor. I think this is following the brief well, although when I get further with the character, I will want to include my motifs.
I also want to give my character a symbol and an identity. The basic idea I'm going for at the moment is this is the armor and gear of special forces knights.
the body will need a pose, using some i refreances i found online, i am able to structure the body correctly with out the proportions looking incorrect. i can now shuffle this around into a slightly better perspective so that they fit the helmet better.
